Welcome Parents and Families of Our Lady of Perpetual Help School:
My name is Cindy Smith and I’m extremely happy to serve OLPH as your new principal. I am passionate about education and I look forward to partnering with you to provide our students with a faith-based, rigorous, and engaging school experience. Having raised my two grown children in Catholic schools, I understand the importance of a strong home-school connection. Parents are every child’s first teacher and I believe that by working together, we can make sure your child’s spiritual, academic, emotional, and social needs are met.
Before joining OLPH School, I served in a variety of teaching and educational leadership roles over the past 34 years. Some of these roles include serving as an instructional coach, a math and technology leader, a program supervisor, a teacher-mentor, and a classroom teacher. I began my teaching career here in the Diocese of Trenton at St. Charles Borromeo School. My academic background includes a Master of Education in School Leadership, and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education.
I believe that great schools are the result of great teachers, so my primary objective will be to ensure that every student is receiving quality instruction from every teacher at OLPH. Your children will become used to my presence in their classrooms in order to support instruction. I will provide teachers with feedback on their classroom practice and access to professional development. I will reach out to parents for support with academic and behavioral concerns. It is my goal to ensure our OLPH students are prepared for success in high school and beyond.
I will be working closely with Fr. Wilson, our school board, our faculty, and our PTA in order to have a successful 2018-19 school year. I anticipate your support and encourage your participation as we move forward. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions, concerns, or ideas you would like to share. Thank you for the opportunity to serve your families in this role!
